Marae

Yesterday Good Shepherd School went to the Unitice Marae. We got welcomed on by Whaea Lynda. She was a really good singer. We had to take our shoes off before we went in. We met Papa Hau and he told us a story about one of the stories of the carvings. The story was about a man who wanted to come to New Zealand. But the others didn't want him on the waka because he had a bad knee. He was sad but then a stingray came and said hop on. He couldn't believe it. He hopped on and came to New Zealand. When he finished the story. We went and had a yummy morning tea. We went bake in the Marae and learnt a song and hand coordinations counting to seven in Maori. Then we went outside and the boys did an amazing haka. Here are a few photos from the trip.

Fair Stall

This year is the good shepherd school fair. The school has decided to let each class have a stall and sell a product of our choice. In Room 5 we all got into groups and came up with a product to sell. My group is me, Soeun, Kayano, Hannah and Annika. We chose to sell sherbert. There is a criteria that we have to follow. The product has to be cheap, easy to make, environmentally friendly, profitable and has to be stored. We had to make a name for our product and we came up with Kandy Klash. We made a logo, here is our logo.

My Recipe

Rainbow Cheese Toastie

Ingredients/ Supplies
Bread (2 pieces per toastie)
Toastie machine
Cheese (as much as you need)

Containers
Butter (optional)
Food colouring (optional - but I recommend it because that is what makes it rainbow!)
Method
  1. Get all the ingredients out.
  2. Cut the cheese up into thin slices. Use a cheese slicer if you have one.
  3. Melt the cheese in the microwave.
  4. Divide the cheese into different containers. Get as many containers as you want to depend on how many colours you want.
  5. Put the dye in the cheese and mix the cheese around.
  6. Put the cheese on the bread (make sure you don’t mix the coloured cheese).
  7. Butter the outside of the bread (this prevents the bread from sticking to your toastie machine).
  8. Put your toastie in the machine.
  9. Wait for it to cook then enjoy!

My Ocean Poster

In Room 5 we studied an ocean. I chose the Arctic Ocean. You could also choose the Indian Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean and the Southern Ocean. Did you now that the Arctic Ocean is located in the northern hemisphere? Here is my poster.
