Koalas

In room 5 we made posters about a animal of our choice. I chose a koala and learn about what they eat, what they look and feel like, if they are endangered or not and their babies. Did you know? that Koalas only eat eucalyptus leaves and nothing else.  Here is my poster.

Kids Lit Quiz

At Good Shepherd School some year sixes got chosen to participate in the kids lit quiz. The kids lit quiz is a nation wide reading competition. We are reading different books leading up to the competition. Right now I am reading Paddington and I just finished reading Alice in wonderland. I am so happy that I made one of the teams and I am very excited for the competition.

Poems

This week room 5 have been writing poems. We are writing them to another school in New Zealand and they will be sending poems back to us. We had to pick an item from a box that the organisers sent to us. I wrote one about a Chinese coin and a red gem. I am very very excited to see the other poems from a different school.

Shine Day

Today  is shine day and we came to school dressed in orange. We dressed in orange to raise a awareness of family violence. We all brought In a gold coin. Through the week the Special Character leaders  have been standing out side the office after school collecting money for shine day.

Shrove Tuesday

Today we have made pancakes. We made them because it's Shrove Tuesday. In Jesus' time they made pancakes to use up all their eggs, flour, milk and sugar because they start fasting for 40 days. This time of year is called Lent. Lent prepares us for Easter. If they didn't use them up they would be all hard and would have gone off. We also burned the palm leaves from Palm Sunday last year. We burned them because it's Ash Wednesday tomorrow and we will get the ashes on our forehead.

MY MANTRA

In room 5 we have been doing Mantras. A Mantra is an inspiring message that we choose. Here is mine.
